So, I'm finally going to accept a full-time job ...

Still don't know how to feel about it. Going from 2 years of independent consulting to a permanent position as a Manager, Technology and Campaign Development for the Bank of Montreal. Good-bye extra "coin spending money", hello paid vacations, health insurance and profit sharing...

Feels a little like I'm losing my independence, but, on the other hand, it's a really good opportunity for any 27 year-old...

Will definitely spend less money on coins now, so I hope you've enjoyed reading my NEWP posts while it lasted image

Are you single, too? If so, the next thing you'll drop on us is that you're getting married. image

At that point, you'll just think the NEWPS went 'bye-bye'!!!! imageimage

  • 2K - You're 27 - you have a lifetime of decisions ahead of you - sounds like you are off to a great start, hang in there!!!

  • Best of luck with your new endeavor! After a major life change myself, I thought my collecting would slow down greatly too. Now I pick and choose instead of just buying everything that comes along that filled a hole in my collection or want list. This translates to fewer acquisitions but the coins that are now being added are usually of better quality by my being a little more selective with my choices. I also appreciate these new additions more than I did before when I was just buying everything in sight. I expect we will all see NEWPs from you, maybe not as many or as often as before but I am sure the quality will be exceptional as always. You have an eye for the good stuff (not to mention the knowledge) and that won't change with a new profession or job change...

    Good luck and Merry Christmas!

    Congratulations on your new position.

Working for someone else can be a pain at times, but the health insurance is more than worth it, especially after you exit your twenties!

You'll still have the $$ for coins, even if you do get married. Once the kids come, at that point, the NEWPS go!!

Why should the added job security detract from your buying?!
I manage money. I earn money. I save money .
I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.

    Congrats Roman!

Should I call ahead and tell them to place a block on "forums.collectors.com" so you can focus? Just kidding.

    Happy holidays,

That would be pretty mean, Brent image

Bidask, it's not the job security that's going to affecting my buying, but the pay cut compared to the contracting work.

  • Roman - Almost 30 years ago I closed my private practice, and took an in-house job with a bank that had been my client.

As a life choice, that decision ranks right up there with asking my Beautiful Bride to marry me one last time after she had turned me down twice, and abandoning my journalistic profession to go to law school more than a decade after leaving college.

May your decision turn out as well for you as those three did for me!

But, as others have said, please don't abandon the forum!
    Roy
