Just spent a snowy afternoon looking through this years pickups. These two are my favorites. The 1800 half dime
is a coin I had been searching for for several years. It looks nice in hand, however, enlarge something this small to
screen size and every mark and scratch is very obvious. This coin a real challenge for me to photo
The 1802 half is a coin I have been watching for months. I first saw this coin right before the Summer ANA and instantly wanted it.
However, I wanted to first view several others in hand before pulling the trigger. I finally decided this was the 02 for my set
and luckily DNADAVE on the boards still had it. The coin may not be totally original (what early coin truely is) but it looks great in hand
I grade both of these as F12's, what do you guys think?

I do especially like the 1802.
I agree with you and I understand what you mean about imaging small coins. I am sure that the 1800 half dime is a beauty in hand. Just to make the point, you should post an image that is closer to actual size. As I stated previously, I love that 1802 half!
Great NewP's for the year.
I think I like them both.................
I agree enlarging a coin the size of a Half Dime to the size of a dinner plate, will show more then what perhaps you anticipated to. Attached is a few pics that show hits in the picture, that I can not see with a 5x loupe.
In an Green Label PCGSMS62
And can I have it?

I am not a half dime collector....too small a coin for me... but I am drawn to that 1802 half (naturally)
These 1802 are tough to find nice and while this one has been around the block it is a coin I surely would not kick out of bed.
I would leave this coin exposed to a stable indoor environment for a few years and I bet it will smooth out in color and hide a couple of those lines in the process.
Nice additions fishteeth
