Crossing a coin and establishing a provenance

I'm crossing a coin from NGC to PCGS. THe NGC insert does not carry the provenance of the coin, which I am led to believe is a Norweb coin. Can anyone comment on any experience or knowledge on crossing coins to PCGS and "establishing" a pedgree on the new insert?? PCGS requirements?? All I have now is a recent auction lot description that refers to the coin as "the ex-Norweb coin". It's also listed in the 2006 Norweb sale catalog, but provenance is not expressly noted. I'm thinking I may have to first establish this FACT with the auction house.

If the coin is pictured and can be positively identified in the plate then they will put the provenance on the holder. Otherwise, it really needs to be sealed in the auction flip or already noted on the other TPG's holder.

Send the coin with all of the documentation that you can provide. I have done exactly this twice and have not had a problem.

Good points TDN and RYK. The coin is plated in both auctions (Norweb and subsequent sale this year). I will provide photo and descriptive info, receipts, etc. Hopefully that will suffice. Documentation, documentation .....
