Is there a way to put a counter into a thread?

I have done this in the registry sets as they allow basic html.
Is there a way to do that in the forums? it would be nice to see how many people actually view some of this stuff.
All of the +'s aside, is this something worth requesting from Carol? Is there a reason collectors universe does not include this information like other boards?

This one does neither

Another feature I really like, about some of bb's is that when you get the email saying that the thread has been replied to the link takes you back to that reply (page) and not the very beginning of the thread.
Other than those 2 facts, I really enjoy this forum alot.
step one. upload a pic to your own controlled server where you can
access raw apache logs.
anyone who views that pic will leave a log entry stating XXX IP just
grabbed the pic.
then using a script that checks those logs every minute rename a pic
on your server with the current count.
php-gd could be used to do this on the fly instead of having a zillion
static pictures with numbers in it.
it would take me about an hour to make that work and heh, it would
not be worth my time or effort. i just do not care enough.
but to summarize, it is very doable and quite easy if you work with
unix, servers, php-gd, crontab, shell scripting, etc..

Great idea but a couple steps too much work.
I thought I saw something like this a couple years ago on this forum, unfortunately it sounds like they might have done something like you suggested.
allowed html.

Then you use something like this. Vistor list for this thread

Still says 0 views. Although it has potential if it starts working

The image only updates once a day. The visitor list updates with every hit.

Ok I am sure many more than 26 have posted, at least 27 anyway.
not quite what you wanted is it?
I'd like to know how many look at posts but do not post any replies.
This could be useful in the search field to narrow one's search to most popular view threads, etc.

Ahh but you can have a counter count unique users from their IP address. This is the way that the counter I use on my registry set works. You can either choose page hits or individual user hits.
