Lincoln Cents Help Weak U in UNUM caused by?

I am going thru a roll of 1969 S Lincolns and found this:

1969 S Weak or Light U in UNUM

Anything special Or is it filled in from grease causing the weak strike? Is this a common occurence. Any help would be appreciated.

my guess would be a grease filled die.

i have alot of mem. rev. cents with this exact thing. im not sure what it is and dont want to make assumptions, most errors i know abit about, but this has got me stumpped too. it is also on about 45-50 of the 69-s roll i have already went through. from that date alone i must have 20-30 of these. some on diff. letters of the rev. motto, but none yet on the obv.



you got me thinking about these again though...
