I've been asked to pass along this information from our VP of E-Commerce. Enjoy!
Dear Collectors,
We have been listening carefully to the feedback you’ve given us and want you to know that we have launched an upgraded version of our targeted search based on your suggestions. You could stop reading now, click one of the links below, and hopefully notice the results (or more accurately, not notice much difference from what you are used to in terms of searching and the default results). Our changes include:
1. We have restored the category AND subcategories in the search pull-down menu.
2. We have restored the search pull-down menu to the home page, catalog home page and search page.
3. We have restored the default sort order to what you are used to, and in some cases improved it.
4. The user interface has been enhanced and is hopefully more user friendly.
You should be able to use the Search and Pull-down category/subcategory combinations almost exactly as you have in the past, and ignore the Guided Navigation elements if you wish. The only difference is that you can add the Finish filter from the left column to find MS/Unspecified, Proof and SMS finishes. Admittedly, this is one more click, with the additional advantage of being able to refine your search without losing those or any other filters, and mix the finishes in any combination.
The real power of Guided Navigation is in not having to start a new search, but in modifying a previous search (such as removing and adding a new “category” or “grade”, while retaining your “keyword”, “service”, “designation” and “auction” for example), or by just changing or amending your keyword while keeping all other filters. It also gives you the ability to more accurately focus your search using the criteria you define in the left column instead of being at the mercy of keyword text searches.
Our goal is to provide all of the benefits of the old system plus the benefits of the new system, and our goal is to do this with as little friction as possible. To that end, we will keep listening and improving as we go and this process will never end. Well OK, the universe could collapse or something…

Catalog: http://coins.ha.com/common/auction/catalog.php?Sale_No=454
IMPORTANT: As some of you have already noticed, you can now chose to NOT use the new Guided Navigation system. Anywhere you can start a new search, you will now see a red button labeled “Switch to Old Search Feature”. If you click this button, we will store your preference in your cookies, and you will see the old home page and search pages until you click the “Use Guided Navigation Search” button. If you find any issues with this ability, please report them to us as soon as possible so that we can address them.
This is something that many of you asked for, and we are happy to be able to provide the comfort of the old system during this busy time. I hope that you all will benefit from these changes, and that you give the new system another chance when you have a little breathing room. We wish you all the best of luck at FUN, and welcome your feedback anytime.
PS. We also have some other improvements in the pipeline, including:
1. Saving your “items per page” settings in your cookie so that you don’t have to set them ever visit.
2. Increasing the default items per page to 25, and adding some more specialized options for power users. Your input on this would be beneficial.
3. Saving your sort order selection for the session, and giving you the option to switch back to the default after changing it.
4. Improvements to the item layout so that certain data points like grade, service and current bid stand out for easy scanning of the results.
5. A “streamlined” listing view that has smaller thumbnails and a layout that provides easy scanning, which will allow more items per vertical inch. You will be able to switch back and forth between this mode and the regular mode, and we’ll save your preference so you only have to change it when you wish, instead of on every visit.
6. And more to come…
Thank you,

<< <i>You can tell them thanks for bringing the old page layout back. That is the one I use. >>
Agreed! Honestly - I tried for a few minutes to try the new version for looking at the FUN sale. I gave up and switched to the old.

<< <i>I actually am getting to like the new version. Would prefer reg exp support but that would be so thinly used by HNAI's customers. >>

<< <i>Still no way to filter out the ANACS "Details" coins. >>
Adding the search term "NOT details" (no quotes) will get rid of the vast majority of them. Adding extra terms such as "NOT cleaned", "NOT bent," "NOT corroded", and even "NOT genuine" (for those just labeled genuine) should get the stragglers.

Thanks for the help. I was trying to use the old fashion search coding I learned thirty years ago, like I use on ebay. When I want to discard words, I put a minus in front of the parenthesis, insert all the words I want to discard separated by commas, and finish with right parenthesis.
For some reason the method you suggested eliminates almost all the details lots, but not quite all. Wonder how the few slip by the NOT.
I guess now I will be looking at Heritage ANACS lots again.
<< <i>I normally hate change. But I think if you really takethe time to learn the new program as I now have, it is far superior. Heritage is simply ahead of the curve. >>
I agree. I am using exclusively the new product. It has been tweaked so that some of the original issues are no longer problems and is far more powerful than the older version, IMO. I am glad that Heritage fixed the new one and provided access to the old one, so everyone would be happy.
