What Should be on the District of Columbia Quarter? **Let's Keep Politic Out**

OK, how about some ideas, serious or humrous. Please don't turn this into a political thread.....

I'll start:

An image of the White House in Flames, with the year 1814, with British Troops setting the fires.
Give Blood (Red Bags) & Platelets (Yellow Bags)!

    Gotta go with either the Library of Congress or the Mall...maybe a close-up of the Vietnam Memorial with the GW Monument in the background? Of course, the Capitol will probably be the subject since the politicos undoubtedly see themselves as the most important icons in D.C.

    A line of 200 lawyers waiting to use one port-a-potty...could also be a dollar sign with wings

    More likely, it'll be a plan view of L'Enfant's federal city design, or a view of the Washington monument and cherry trees on the mall.

    Actually, I have posted on these boards while living in Texas, Mississippi, and Belgium. Washington is actually a very likely place for me to live next.

    My reference to the White House in flames is due the the fire at the Eisenhower Executive Office Building yesterday.

    That's a good one.

    Also the View of the Capitol building from a standpoint just above and behind the Linoln Memorial (It's a great view but I don't know how it will look on a coin).

    I was thinking along the same lines, but with a more oblique view of the Mall that also takes in the Jefferson Memorial and the Tidal Basin (Fanne Foxe optional).

    growing up in the DC area in my younger years, I would have the US Capitol Building on the Obverse and the 3 major tourist attractions - the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial and Washington Monument on the Reverse - the Jefferson Memorial could depict the Tidal Basin with its Cherry Blossons, the Lincoln Memorial with the Reflecting Pool and the Washinton Monument and the Mall - to make in interesting, I would alternate the Reverse between the above 3 so that collectors would have to acquire 3 different coins to make a set of the DC quarter.
    currently putting together a EF/AU/BU 18th & 19th Century Type Set; and CC Morgan Set

    just completed 3d tour to Iraq and retired after 28+ years in the US Army

    There was a commemorative quarter with that design in 1932. They did not make them in 1933.
