1875-CC Trade Dollar!!Real Or Fake!! UPDATE!!!

Well,I took the coin to my local B&M dealer and he said it was genuine.He also said that it was a TYPE 2,WIDE CC.Is he blowing smoke or has someone here heard of a TYPE 2 WIDE CC Trade Dollar?

    2. Tall CC: Breen-5796. Mintmark 1.2 mm. high. This variety exists with the CC letters spaced closely (Close CC) and with the letters spaced widely, as C C (Wide CC)

    Yep, thought it was the real deal. Pics were lousy (angled) but I'm glad it came out ok!

    I wouldn't necessarily bet the bank on the opinion of a B&M coin dealer. Some of these are so deceptive that they simply need to be authenticated by an expert.
  • I thought because of the wide CC and it being silver that i had a shot at it being real.Good info,the only way to know for sure is to get it authenticated.If it was like the one you showed me TDN,I wouldn't hesitate.image
