Stacks Kroisos Sale Now Up And Online!

Posted on current auctions @ www.stacks.com. I looked and did NOT see a lot of interest at least to me and that the 19th and 20th C. sections were very limited. There did look to be some very high end bits however.

  • There's some nice Japanese gold in the sale.

I will be keeping my eye on the ¥20, which, unfortunately for me, will probably go for quite a bit over the estimate. image

Yep, this is definitely a high roller's auction! Just eye candy for the poor bums like me image

I can't really single out any great coins from such a great collection, but this one really stood out: Lot 3093, Poland 2 ducats. For all the royal women that have appeared on coinage they are rarely presented so elegantly.

BTW, anyone know how to obtain a paper catalog and how much Stacks is charging for them? (outside of a subscription, that is)

That is an awesome piece. Too bad you can't just do a BUY IT NOW for the estimate price. Good luck!

Yes, pity the folks that HAVE TO HAVE a piece from this sale. I am glad nothing of serious interest to me as I am on a budget for the timebeing at least anyway. Now, there is also Ponterio and Heritage with a few lesser expensive goodies too (well relatively!).

  • Why would you bid on something that isn't slabbed? image
Salute the automobile: The greatest anti-pollution device in human history!
(Just think of city streets clogged with a hundred thousand horses each generating 15 lbs of manure every day...)

To save the trouble (and slight risk of damage to the coin) involved in busting it out of a slab.image

Not much of interest there to me, but there are definitely some nice pieces up.
