Need information on a 1982 etched penny

I found a 1982 d penny with a Horseshoe and 4 leaf clover etched into the pennies Obverse. The reverse has some residue from where it was stuck on a piece of cardboard detailing where this came from.

It's the same deal as the 1976 penny that was etched with a liberty bell and a outline of the U.S. but I've never seen the horseshoe and clover one. Anyone have any information on who did these to some pennies in '82 and what it was to commemorate? I assume it's supposed to be a "lucky" penny. Also, this in an elongated pressed penny, and it's not something someone stamped, they are laser etched.

Thanks.

  • Yeah, I know it's a novelty, just wondering what group put them out is all. It doesn't have any value beyond a penny, but looks neat and I just like to know for what occasion they where made for.
