  • As far as I'm concerned, it's a 65 from what I can see.

i think the morgan is very nice looking and clean but the pictures
do not allow me to guess if it would upgrade.

Hard to say. They tend to be a bit tighter on the 1879 through 1882 San Fran dates as they usually come really nice. Looks like a nice coin, though better shots would make it easier to evaluate.

  • Buying them as 64's in old ANACS holders, preferably in person, is a great way to find them. That mark on the cheek is extremely shallow. I think rim toning is a plus. I had an ANACS 64 1925 Peace cross to 65 this year. The hair at the ear looks pretty good to me. Fields are nice and clean (again, from what I can see).

65's work too. I bought a 1881-S in an old ANA holder and it upgraded to 66. image This coin looks like a 65 for sure. image

Looks like it has a shot at 65 in terms of being clean and free from major distracting marks. My concern is that the strike looks a bit soft above the ear for an early S-mint Morgan; while this would be hammered for an 1892-O, it's a bit weak for an '82-S. That may be what limited this coin to 64.

That's what i'm thinking to ziggy the lines above the ear are a little mushy it's close though oh well thank's alot

  • Shot 65......tough to tell from the yellow pictures and I agree with others that early "S" mints have to be extra nice to get a 65 but this one looks clean enough to cut the musturd.

There is a chance at 65 with this one.

I'd say it depends on the luster for this coin. If its spectacular, then it will 65.
Always looking for attractive rim toned Morgan and Peace dollars in PCGS or (older) ANA/ANACS holders!
