Sweet! I bought a great raw Morgan on eBay (guess the grade)

This arrived the other day, looking even better in hand than it did in the photos. The toning and surfaces are pristine and original as can be; I wish all my circ. Morgans were this natural and unmolested. (Curiously enough, the 'stains' on the obverse are absolutely invisible in person. When I got the images up on my monitor I actually picked up the coin again to see where in the heck they are. I can sort of squint and imagine where the one under Liberty's chin is, but the others... nope.)

I'm thinking it's a tossup between VF25 and 30. Anyone else care to guess? I'll be sending it to PCGS with my next Economy batch, just because I like it so much.

Edited to change "scans" to "photos".
When in doubt, don't.

I won't guess but it does have a nice overall look. Nice pickup.

image took half the fun out of it. Now I'll just sound like I'm agreeing with you if I say VF25.

I'm anxiously awaiting a morgan (sadly another net details) to close in the next few days that caught my eye. I'll see how it turns out if I win and it arrives.
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

    I think they'll give it a VF30.

See you are getting away from hoarding the 95-S.....a little bit.

BTW --- As convenient as a scanner might be for coins...it can be frustrating...quite often minimal or virtually non existant "problems" can be magnified...scanners show details but can be very deceptive with color and toning...

I've just about given up on 'white' Walkers with massive luster...the scanner always picks up 'shadows' and the scans make the coin look spotted and ugly...
Re: Slabbed coins - There are some coins that LIVE within clear plastic and wear their labels with pride... while there are others that HIDE behind scratched plastic and are simply dragged along by a label. Then there are those coins that simply hang out, naked and free image

Didnt win the one I was talking about so will post. Wasnt positive it was a donkey tail since the die break seemed a little high (if it is a break... pics are horrible) so I didnt do a very high bid. Was outbid at last second by another sniper at 6am this morning for a little over a 20 spot. Another snipper hitting it in that condition for much more than melt must mean at least one other person is questioning if its a donkey tail. You have to look pretty hard in the original pic. I enlarged it 200 percent to get this photo.

SeaEagleCoins: Sorry for my mis-speak. I used the word "scans" as a generic word for "images". The photos posted here were actually taken with a digital camera. And I know exactly what you mean about trying to image blast white Walkers or proof silver/nickel. I used to always get little yellow streaks of glare with the scanner.

Coxe: I'm always working to expand the 1895-S hoard. I was underbidder on the last two I went for on eBay. Maybe I'll have better luck at the FUN show. image

Exciting all-original looking morgan. I'm typically clueless on VF grades, but the reverse looks nearly XF
to me, while the obverse is more worn down. I'm betting the original look, plus the reverse pull a bit
    and I'll guess VF30.
