I have a Jefferson Question

What date do you stop considering full steps relavant? In other words is there a specific range in dates that full steps are hard to find or is it in any non proof Jefferson regardless of the date?

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of the very freedom I provide, then question the manner in which I provide it. I prefer you said thank you, and went on your way, Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a weapon, and stand to post. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you are entitled to!

    I'd say mostly it's '46 through '70 inclusive.

There are still some tough dates before and after this and a few of these
aren't that tough but all the real toughies are in this range.

Well PCGS value guide still recognizes them in every date, except of course 04'-05'.

the Mint finally tweaked the reverse step area and perhaps made press adjustments or something relating to how the planchets were struck starting in 1990 which essentially gives us a fully struck coin from that issue forward. at that same cut-off date, PCGS also requires six full steps for the designation. sometime in the mid-90's the obverse had the hair re-engraved and other detail sharpened. they also started using polished planchets which give some nice, PL coins but the flaws are really accentuated.

strangely, prior to all the changes the Denver Mint struck the best looking coins with the highest probability of finding a Full Step example. the pops are starting to level out, but for awhile some of the toughest FS dates in MS66FS issued during the 1990's were from Denver.
