Kind of interesting, kind of OT

When we moved into our new house we noticed the previous owners left an old upright piano in the basement. We weren't too happy about this. Getting a piano moved out of a basement is not the easiest thing to do. Many moving companies won't even do it. Well, we found one who would at the cost of $200.

Today we had the piano taken out and put at the curb for our local town to pick up. As they were dumping it on the curb, one of the moving guys notices an old nickel. Well, it turned out to be an 1893 "V" nickel that was inside the piano. One just wonders how long it had been sitting there. The piano was c. 1920s vintage.

No images. I let the guy who found the coin keep it. It was only in AG condition.

That's pretty cool, Don. Was piano in restoreable condition, at all?

The piano may have been restorable, but I think it would have cost a lot. Kelly tried to play it and said it sounded pretty bad. Also, some of the keys didn't work. We'll never know. The Town picked it up today.

You do know that the vnickel was one of 30 obsolete and type coins that were in that beast, don't you? And the reason it was so heavy was the stack of silver bars.
