As I have no clue what this is I will be reading my red book for a bit. But, isnt she pretty! 1865, looks like a 3 cent something. Who cares, pretty nifty!

The silver three cent coins are even smaller.

Oh God no! I have some coins that I was given and I am going through them all slowly. They are semi sep. by currency types, nickles, dimes, then also many are from Egypt, Brazil etc. I was on Canada when I found her. Just caught me off guard a bit, eh?!

That's the original "nickel".

I would say the 1857 flying eagele cent was the original nickel.

True about the CuNi F.E. and the early Indian head cents, but from what I know, the three cent coin was actually referred to as a "nickel".

I got a 3cN in a bulk lot of Darkside coins not too long ago. It was an 1869. Horribly corroded, though.

(Edit to add: still not a bad cherrypick for a nickel, eh? I got an original "nickel" for a nickel. Well, maybe six cents, if you average out what I pay for bulk Darkside by the pound.)

I think the copper nickel cents were also referred to as nickels in their day.
