Dipping

For anyone who feels up to the task, I need a quick primer on coins and acetone. I'm just trying to clean up some relatively common coins, as well as a few pieces of junk silver. Right now I have one soaking in a small, covered dish, in pure acetone, well away from anything. Is this the correct way to go about it?

Did you try an advanced search on Acetone in the Coin Forum?

    To answer your question: Yes

Acetone Link Look for "I start by giving the coin a rinse " by Tmot99

BTW, disregard all the baloney about PCGS bodybagging coins dipped in acetone since it is baloney.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

rinsing a coin with acetone and "dipping" are two very separate things.

acetone will not "clean" your coin of tarnish though at least that has been my expereince
