I was watching it all day and had esnipe bids set in. I wound up not winnign. It didn't have a single bid until 3 minutes left. It certainly doesn't look like it would cross to PCGS or NGC as an AU55, but AU53 is definitely possible.
Personally, I think there's still some decent money left to be made at that price. With PCGS and NGC AU55 examples in the $15-$20k range and AU50 around $4k, and AU53 might be in the $7k or $8k area.

I think this coin was a GREAT buy that has very little downside risk for the winner. If it crosses at PCGS as a 55 he hits a monster home run. If it drops to 53 he does superbly. If it goes down to 50 he'll probably still make money. The only way he loses is if he cracks it out raw and it bodybags. Here are all the price records I have for high grade micro-S:
1903-S 2 58 PCGS Apr-07 H $21,850
1903-S 2 55 NGC Jun-06 H $23,000
1903-S 2 55 PCGS Jun-06 PP $20,000
1903-S 2 55 NGC Sep-06 H $17,250
1903-S 2 53 PCGS Jun-07 E $7,450
1903-S 2 50 PCGS Apr-07 PP $7,900
1903-S 2 50 PCGS Feb-05 H $3,450
1903-S 2 50 NGC Mar-07 H $3,220
1903-S 2 50 PCI Feb-05 E $2,551
1903-S 2 50 NGC Jan-05 H $2,185

I sent the winning bidder an offer of $3750 for the coin. We'll see if he accepts.
EBAY sellers should learn a lesson from this one - - Give careful thought to the keywords in your title!! If this one used "vam" or "micro" in the title, I predict the seller would have realized at least two grand more.

I think there was a mint state NGC sold a couple of years ago. Can't remember if it was an MS61 or MS62. Some of the serious Vammer's will certainly remember it better than I.
