    Spend em for fun?
  • ebay 'em.

They should bring at least 50 cents a piece. Sell them in batches of 50 or 100.
  • Spend the worst ones! For sure, do it! Tell us how many you release into circulation, we want to know.

Maybe you could eBay the rest in large groups, accurately described as culls...

    1. Giveaway(s). You could make multiple lots and just charge shipping to the winners so you aren't dishing out a lot of money (please don't send in regular envelopes).

    2. Find a local coin show/club and give the culls to YN's. Great way to get and keep kids interested in the hobby.

    3. Spend some. See #2's reason.

    4. Keep them for future reference? I don't know.

Look for key dates to cherrypick, and then sell 'em on eBay as an unsearched hoard from Grandpa's attic. image

Seriously, I like the idea of rolling them up and selling 'em off as rolls of 50 culls. You could probably get at least $20-25 a roll for them if not a little more, assuming they are all common dates.

I think it might be fun to spend a handful of 'em, too.

    O.k.

    I've only got 10 IHC culls - corroded-verdigris-fugly.

It's off to the SA kettle with some other change and some cleaned Mercs.

They'll get wrapped and re-cycled and I get rid of a problem.

Unless prices went up significantly in the last year, that might be optimistic. I sold a lot of 99 on 7/28/06 and only got $40.33 -- before eBay fees.

I'd pay 10c apiece for 'em, which is extremely lowball, but it allows me to stick 'em in 2x2s and put them in my 3/$1 bin.

If y'all have such a bin in your shop, you should put 'em out there. At three for a buck, they'll go fast, no matter how nasty.

They would make great eductional materials for YN's. I know they would be nice visual aids to show them exactly why a coin looks that way and what caused it. You could beadk them up into smaller lots and then either offer them for sale that way or donate them to clubs for their YN program. I know our YN leader is always looking for ideas.

  • I like the put them in circulation idea. This can help start a bunch of YN's collecting.

  • Sort them into bags of 12 each, and do a colossal giveaway for the kids, YNs under 16 years old, select 50 random and ship to them for Christmas. That's what I'd do.

Take good photos of them and post them here as to why they are culls. Who knows, maybe you could educate thousands upon thousands of people with a thread like this.
