Anyone use Eagle Albums for coins in 2X2's, not slabs?

I was browsing JP's recently, and saw that they have empty Eagle Albums. You can buy different pages for it; the familiar slab pages, but you can also buy pages for raw coins in 2X2's. There's 20 openings on a page, and you can buy the albums in different thicknesses. 3/4", 1", 1 1/2", etc.

Anyone ever use these for raw coins? How did you like them?

I have a few of them; the problem is, the standard cardboard 2X2's don't fit very snugly, and can have a tendency to slip out if you're not careful, like if you tip the the binder upside down. I purchased these at least 6 years ago, so I don't know if any changes or improvements have been made since then.
Of course, the problem with the std vinyl pages is kind of the opposite; you have to pull and yank to get these out

Do they make an album similar to the 7070 for certified coins?

If so how about a link?

  • The 2x2 pages that Eagle makes for these albums are designed to hold the Eagle brand 2x2 polystyrene holders, which are much thicker than cardboard 2x2's. I have not tried but I believe the Whitman style transparent/translucent 2x2 polystyrene holders will fit, too.

The Eagle pages have a standard 3-hole binder spacing, so you could alternatively use the pages you are used to using with cardboard 2x2's or flips in the Eagle album.

holeinone - There are some Type albums available. Another alternative is to get a blank album and define your own set. Brent Kreuger sells these.

I have not tried the Eagle albums yet, but am actually getting ready to try a few. I have been using their slab pages in a standard 3-ring binder but am not satisfied with the look of a plain binder. I hope the Eagles look good, as I would use them for slabs and 2x2's.

I tried the Eagle album and pages that hold 2X2 eagle holders. The problem with the pages is if you fill one with silver dollars the 3 holes attaching it ti the album tend to break. Also, the 'straps' that hold the 2X2 in the page tend to break upon repeated removal of the 2X2. The Eagle 2X2's a OK for smaller coins, but once you get into bigger coins (silver dollars, SAE's) the 2X2 does not stay closed unless you coat the edges with nail polish remover (not good for the coin IMHO.

    I won't be buying anymore Eagle products.........Hope this helps............Rick

My raw Washington set is housed in Eagle 2X2's. They aren't bad, but the coins don't stay centered in the holders. That's my only real complaint. The Whitman 2X2's will also fit into the Eagle album pages. I may in the future put them into Whitman 2X2's. The eagle 36 storage boxes aren't bad either. I have a few of these as well.
