Rich Rodriguez hired as new Michigan football coach

Just announced. I think they got a good man for the job, he is a proven winner at West Virginia, not perfect of course but
no coach is.

He told his players that the offer was "too good to turn down". Most likely Michigan helped pay the $4 million buyout clause
he has with West Virginia and he will get a substantial raise over the $1.8 million per year he was getting at WV.

  • Rodriguez phoned his top incoming QB recruit (forgot the name at the moment) to tell him the news before it was officially announced and
the QB will apparently be coming to Michigan with him.

Bill Davidson, owner of the Detroit Pistons and a Michigan alum promised to put money if needed into financing any football coaching deal.

Bill Martin the AD at Michigan really needs for this to work out in order to save his own reputation (and mostly likely his job).

He was a proven choke job at West Vinginia...that will last what...1 maybe 2 season at Michigan? I really thought they would
hire the guy at App St. oh well

we only won more games 938-more than any ncaa team ever , and never won a championship lol from 1891-to 2007 lol-one of these days, in about 100 more yearsimage
    good riddance rodriguez
wonder whos gonna do the bowl game that we will choke on too-the ghost of greasy neale??
  • Rod is going to need a lot of things to go his way if he's going to be successful at Michigan. First of all, he needs a QB to run that offense and the kid that's there now isn't the guy! I give RR two years and of course two loses to OSU and he'll be fired or forced out for when Les Miles finally decides that he wants the job.
There are two types of people in this world; those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don't. My ex-wife loves him!!

Decent hire. Here's how this will transpire over the next few years. Be sure and save this post:

    1) He'll have about the same winning percentage as Lloyd Carr.

    2) He'll recruit more questionable players to the program.

    3) He'll cheat more in recruiting. Michigan may be on probation at some point.

    4) He'll win, but blow big games some in shocking fashion.

    5) They'll run a more modern offense, but by the time he gets it installed at Michigan, college defenses will have adapted more to it.

    6) He'll beat Ohio State more than Carr, but will have a losing record against them.

    7) His 3-3-5 defense will not work in the Big Ten.

    8) He'll never get the Michigan tradition totally, because he's not a Michigan Man.

sounds like a good idea with that young QB, should be a dynamic offense.

I would have suspected they would have picked someone else... I think Rodriguez is a good coach though and he will be interesting to watch

To me its very wrong for one college to hire another college's coach before the season is over. The NCAA needs to crack down on this.
