13,200+ MS70 ER and another 2100+ regular label. Considering that we guestimate that there are about 3 million + BU ASE collectors out there, they will still be strong performers. I don't see NGC playing a numbers game with them which is a big positive, imho, for the collecting public.

12500 out of what? 12502? We need a percentage of what they're doing. They're notoriouly known to churn out high PF and MS numbers. What else is new?

  • I think there are many more coins being sent for grading than in the past thus increasing the graded numbers. The collector base is growing and the demand for earlier issues in high grade will be obvious. Look at the proofs with 9 years of numbers below 500 PF70's (NGC) vs 2006's 12431/ FS 6662/ 20th Anniv. 10873/ RP 6662 (all 70's). I don't think it's a mint quality or NGC issue but just quantity and popularity

Major wake up call for these ultra moderns.

    Look out below.
Some coins are just plain "Interesting"
  • And about 85% of these probably come from the "Coin Vault" submissions

Exactly... that's where they will end up momentarily... only for $500 each or two for $950... I'm sure they can give you stretch pay for five easy payments of $190 per month.

And then, once the little old blue hairs leave the planet for greener pastures, their family members will realize the coins might get them $40, if their lucky.

Look out below what? It's not like NGC MS70 2007 SAE's are bringing any real money.

The Mint is spitting them out like candy. Are you suggesting that the percentage grading 70 should be suppressed to keep prices up?

thats why pcgs 70`s command a much higher premium when sold. they don`t hand them out like candy. this is why i never submit across the streetimage

It would be interesting to know the number they buy and if their submissions are for certified 70 coins only. This would screw up the pops. Are submissions cheaper this way?

.....and if you like submitting coins/NCLTs to a TPG that works on a quota to keep the prices artificially high (and thus reinforcing a false notion that a 70 grade is actually rare), it looks like you made the right choice.

Having seen some NGC 70s and PCGS 70s, I will say if I were a MS70 collector, I would generally go for the PCGS one.
All in all, it is still "buy the coin", but I think NGC is more liberal than PCGS

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Maybe. ....but there are a lot of modern PCGS kool-aid drinkers that claim they can grade moderns and tell the difference between a 69 and a 70, but would still spend several times times as much (give or take, depending on the coin) on PCGS's claim that the coin is a 70, instead of buying a much cheaper NGC coin and "cherrypicking" it for much less.

Many won't do this however, as they know the TPGs won't cross a 70 in the holder, and it must drive them nuts having to have their "perfect" coin wrapped in the wrong flavor of Kool-Aid plastic. I have never seen more sheer plastic only buyers than i have lately with many of the ultra-modern crowd; it now seems like the old adage of "buying the coin and not the holder" doesn't apply to this segment much anymore. IF it did, you'd see many more collectors of these Mint products hovered over slabs at the major shows with loupe in hand, looking for the "perfect" coins that are residing in the "wrong" brand of slab. This kind of "cherrypicking" seems foreign to this group, and they would rather pay far too much to rely on a given service, and hope they got the grade right. sad state of affairs, really.
