I know I have posted this many times this year, but I was looking for a 200 year old coin to let my nephews (9&11) take to school and show off to friends. I found this on Ebay raw, the picture was dark, the description was accurate. The toning on this really lights up when in hand. It came from a Wayte Raymond coin board. This coin just makes me smile. The boys will end up with this coin someday.
Hold the presses - just bought a coin that's better than the one I posted!

"My friends who see my collection sometimes ask what something costs. I tell them and they are in awe at my stupidity." (Baccaruda, 12/03).I find it hard to believe that he (Trump) rushed to some hotel to meet girls of loose morals, although ours are undoubtedly the best in the world. (Putin 1/17) Gone but not forgotten. IGWT, Speedy, Bear, BigE, HokieFore, John Burns, Russ, TahoeDale, Dahlonega, Astrorat, Stewart Blay, Oldhoopster, Broadstruck, Ricko, Big Moose.
These images are merely a photo of the coin as it appeared in the pre-merger ANR Numismatic Sun. The irridescence of the toning is incredibly intense, and one of the most attractive with Motto half dollars I've ever seen.
At this point, it is a toss up between the 1921-D VAM-3A PCGS 66 and the 1896-O VAM-19 NGC 63 (hope to become PCGS 63). Not sure that I will find something better over the next week.
TDN's coin shouldn't exist. This year was a pretty good one for my collection, and I'll add one more to the two I posted earlier . . . but only because TDN's "wrong holder" comment inspired me.
That is just outstanding no matter who's holder it is in.
For me I spoke too early. I just splurged and picked up some more half eagles. The best so far was an 1870-S in XF45. The best because it is hardly available and the mintage is really small at 17K
