1975 Lincoln Cent - What kind of error is this.

Found this while roll searching a while back and I have no idea what happened to the left of the 1.

I know that the bottom of the 7 is post-mint damage, but the 8 looking shape is raised and therefore puzzling to me.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I don't know...I didn't do it.

Really, it could be from anything...but its' still damage.
