It's friday night. Anyone else miss the excitement of Superior's $1 BIN's?

Wasn't it last year that Superior had all those wacky eBay auctions with $1 BIN's? No body ever won anything for $1, but it was fun to see all those invoices for all those cool coins at $1 each. I feel kind of bad for the person who listed all those auctions. They must have gotten in a lot of trouble for it. image But I remember it sure made some nights pretty exciting, that's for sure.

    I, too, won a nice coin. I BINed an 1893-O in PCGS MS63. They sent me the invoice and a thank you notice. Oh well, one can only dream...
  • I remember Ben, P8nt, posted the coolest invoice with about 20 coins on it all for $1 each. image

    Was he bammed?
  • Why would you think p8ant was bammed? I believe he went off to school.

    Hello,

    You recently bid on items we had posted on eBay and our site. Due to a technical glitch, we had many rare coins list at $1 that obviously were worth much more and not available at that price. Below are two emails I received from two eBay bidders and I want to thank them for their efforts and comments;

    I bought 2 items from you (items #8401898641 & 8401898699 that were obviously mistakes. I have not sent payment. If there is a way for you to just remove them from my won list please do so. If you need me to do anything to release them up to and including paying for them and then doing a refund please let me know.

    I just did a BIN for three of your items. They were listed at $1. I assume this was a mistake. I wanted to help out and get them off of the available items listings. We all make mistakes. I would be glad to follow through with the sales, but I completely understand if they are cancelled.

    We will assume the rest of these bids were in the same spirit but if not please accept my apologies. All payments received have been refunded in total. Please contact me if you have any questions related to these bids.

    Sincerely,

  • My favorite by far was in 2005 with the thread regarding the 1993-P Jefferson Commemorative PCGS MS70 coin , I think a record was set for posts at that time. The passion expressed over this modern coin was impressive, very entertaining weekend for me. 1993-P Jefferson

    The person who's listing Superior's EBay listings loaded with major mistakes should be reprimanded or replaced, but nobody is obligated to sell anything for $1 that was listed due to an unintentional error. Hell, if anybody sold any of my slabbed coins at face value without my approval I would go absolutely beserk.

    To the thread originator...you're a young man in school...there are plenty of things far more exciting to do or see on a Friday night than waiting for error invoices to show up.

    At the risk of starting something that won't ever finish: This was like the third time they'd done it.

    By the way, I understand the major TPGs are considering slabbing chocolate coins.

    Ah, that could explain why this was brought up again...
  • I didn't bring it up, I came across it very randomly but after I read it I thought what the heck. Having a slow week I guess and I have fond memories of how passionate coin collectors can be.
