Is there a particular source where I can find all medals related to the State of Connecticut?

Being from the Nutmeg State, I have an interest in all things Connecticut. In the medals world, I believe that there are at least a few medals with Connecticut themes, or ones which can be tied to Connecticut. For example, in a cursory search of the Heritage archives (which was exceedingly hard, in my opinion), I found a Connecticut Agricultural medal that I had never seen before.

Does anyone know of a good source which will detail out medals related to the state of Connecticut?

    I don't know.
But since this thread got zero replies, I thought I'd revive it for you in hopes that someone else has some info.....

There probably is no published research, Michael, but that leaves a big opening for:

    YOU.

Get started doing research and in 10 or 20 years, you will have a book or at least a pamphlet that you will be able to self publish.

This is what makes numismatics fun. You can define your own collection and become an expert!!

You will not have to be just the #1 tax lawyer, you can also be the #1 expert on CT exonumia!!

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

I doubt this exists. It is waiting to be written image

The June '07 Presidential Coin & Antique auction catalog lists three award medals from Connecticut.

    Thanks for the replies.

Maybe I should self-designate myself as the #1 tax lawyer. I sort of like the sound of that. image

did you ever find out anything about the Robert Heath book? I saw a thread about it a few days ago and I'm kinda interested as to the content.

The Heath book is definitely the way to go. I've seen a copy (for Mass.), but I've never even had an opportunity to buy one for any state. They're seriously unobtainable. Now that Heath has died, I don't see things changing any time soon. I believe that someone has taken up the torch for one of the northern states (Maine and/or New Hampshire). Even if so, that doesn't help for the others.

I know there is a book called "The State Coinage of Connecticut" by Henry C. Miller. I've not read it but that might be a start.

The Miller book is about Colonial coinage. Good book, but not what the OP is looking for.

Who was the publisher of the Heath book? Is there the possiblility of a reprint?

The Heath book was self-published, unfortunately. It wasn't even bound -- it comes looseleaf.

If somebody knows the heirs to the estate it might be worth the effort to find out if copyright privileges could be purchased and the book reprinted... seems like the man was truly a numismatist and would love for others to enjoy the fruits of his labors.

I am happy to report that I obtained a copy of this book today. It is a looseleaf copy. Thumbing through it, it appears to have a lot of good information. I got it from board member Preturb.
