2007-W ASE's Sold Out -- Again?

In David Harper's (of Numis News) Mint Stat's report of 12/13, he has put the asterisk BACK in the ASE mintages. Sales increased by 15,421 since it last "closed". What does this mean? Since the Pres Dollar set controversy with ASE being "W" or "not W'd" invoked great speculation a short while back, could it be that:
a) No W's were placed in the sets, and the numbers are just jelling up, or
b) W's were included in the new sets, but the posted mintage included a reserve expressly for the dollar sets.

Who would have thought I would be writing about asterisks for two weeks in a row? The asterisk was put back on the "W" uncirculated silver American Eagle in the box below.
The Mint has sold another 15,421 in the new 2007 annual uncirculated dollar coin set. I have to find a spot for this number to be routinely reported.
Speaking of spots, the new $1 Presidential coin sets have arrived. I had to kick out the Greetings from America series to make room. We will see how their popularity develops.
Madison First Spouse has kicked out Kennedy. They will be sold into 2008.
The Mint has run out of 2007 gold, silver and platinum American Eagles for its distribution network so the November numbers are it for the year.

<< <i>I ordered a pile of these sets just in case.........anybody else? >>
I ordered some too, if ASE in the set is burnished with "W", then the dollar set is a good deal.
Thanks FBL, I understand what Harper was referring to now with the asterisk bit, but I disagree that they will stagnate. I think I will be picking up a few more prez sets too...
<< <i>At the rate that they are selling, they will be sold out by the 31st. I don't think the Mint has more than 50,000 of these sets available. >>
The State Quarter folios are still available all the way from 1999.

To think that people would pay almost $28 for one quarter and a stamp on a trading card with no COA involved versus getting a First Day Coin Cover for $19.95 (Reduced Now to $14.95) is astounding!
The FDCC has a COA and is a real First Strike Product.
The Quarter folios and that $1 crap they just offered up a few days ago is just Franklin Mint-style to me.
<< <i>That is what you get when you let a Govt. Official execute a new product.

The FDCC's at least are a limited type issue of some significance. These new Presidential dollar sets are just repackaged to sell more and will probably be on sale for a long time. Maybe the dollar set with the 2007-W will be limited being it contains a bullion type issue, if not it will ensure a slow death to it's market value and dimish the appeal of the 2008-W individual option when it's released.
