Susan B. Anthony dollar. Questions about "IGWT" with interesting photos.

I got a few SBA dollars yesterday, and as I was going through them, I noticed something I haven't seen before - or never noticed anyway.

Take a look for yourself and see what you think. I havent seen it documented anywhere else. These are all 1979 D SBA dollars from circulation.

Regular motto - the one that is always there.

This is what I found; these are photos of 2 different coins.

Notice on the second two photos how the motto has a connected S and T.

Is this an error? Post mint damage?

They are closeley connected, with not a trace of a line between them as in the first photo. Most SBA's are distinctly separated.

Oh, I thought you had questions about board member IGWT. I have a lot of dirt on him. image

There's really not all that much to know about me. (I'm a little worried, however, about the "interesting" photos.) image

none of us want to see interesting photos of you. Perhaps Mrs. IGWT... image
  • Any thoughts on the photos I actually have?

I have no interesting photos of IGWT. Though I suppose "interesting" is different for everyone...

    I believe they are struck from overused, or worn, dies;
a common occurance for this date, especially.

I'm not a SBA Die Variety specialist, so you might want
to check with someone, but to me, seeing the flattened
design and metal flow lines in that area, and around it,
    I'd say worn dies.

  • Any idea who would be a specialist in these? I'm sure it's just die wear, but it's interesting.

Part of the fun was the photographing.
