It is sometimes interesting and educational to compare digital photos with scanned images to see how they compare and what differences they depict. I find that scans often precisely define contact marks and other surface imperfections on a coin, but that digital photos often more accurately portray mint luster on a coin.

Here are some comparison images for your viewing pleasure. The upper images in each set are my digital photographs, while the lower images in each set are the original DLRC scanned images for the coin listing.
