New Purchase:1807 Draped bust half....Please give opinion of grade.

I just bought this off the bay and it is in a Pcgs slab so I am not worried about getting a problem coin,but I think it is undergraded as did the seller.Without looking at the completed auctions,what do you think the grade is?I will post the grade later.









grade addedCGS F-15 ,I looked at several in this grade range and thought this on had at least 20-25 details.I'll see when I get her home.

I think I saw this coin while it was active so I'm not going to "guess" but it looks like a nice coin, wish the photos were a little better though.

Looks like a cleaned or dipped VF25 or VF30, though the images are far too inadequate to give anything more than a guesstimate.

I call it a Fine 15, net graded for the weak strike.

VF-20 based on the reverse, but if I had a larger obverse I might go higher.

F15. Details are really nice (especially on the reverse) but the fact there is no hair separation in the back of the head would disqualify this from a VF or higher grade IMO of course.

TomB... your eye amazes me. Um... is it the darkness in the "re-toning" ? Is it the loss of iridescent color bands ? Is it the washed out look in the center of the coin ? What are you seeing ? Please teach the masses here.

Even if dipped/retoned... I like the coin, Dave. I'll guess it at VF30

The PCGS grade of F15 would correspond nicely with a silent net grading of a dipped or cleaned VF.
