Please help me ID and date this odd ?bronze? coin

I assume it is a coin - and probably old. It appears to be made of bronze and is kind of crude around the rim. It is about twice as thick as a nickel and a little smaller than a dime. Any ideas about what it is and approx. how old it is?

I don't even know if the photos are upside down or not.

This is a coin I've had forever and I'm not really sure when or how I got it. It is kind of neat - so I've just kept it all these years.

Thank you.

Indian Princely States --- beyond that I'd have to do more research!

I believe if the lettering "holds water" (imagine a pitcher of water poured in from above, as if into a cup), the coin is rightside up.

    The alignment is correct.
  • Thanks for the reply. I see what you mean about 'research' -- with 600+ Indian states producing these over the centuries, there must be a million shapes and sizes. I found a few on Ebay India that look similar. It will undoubtedly take some work to figure out the specifics about a single version of these coins.

Thanks again for starting me in the right direction.
