I sure don't...I've grown to admit an overwhelming majority of baseball players used some performance enhancing substance at some point - and I'm okay with it. The self-righteous will claim foul, but those people will claim foul with anything.

Would I love it if "my" team won? (Them being the Giants and A's.) Of course. But them winning has, at best, a negligent on my life. When the A's won in 1989, did that cause me to do better in school? Get more sleep? Have a better relationship with friends and family? No, no and no. So with steroids, use them, don't use them. I don't care.

<< <i>OF COURSE, I would care. But let's say, for sake of dialogue, that 100% of MLB Players admitting to using steroids, that wouldn't detract the slightest from my enjoyment of the game. And maybe that's why I have that attitude. One, it's a game and two, I watch it to be entertained - steroids or no steroids.

Do you think it is fair to the past players of the game and the history of the game itself?

Absolutely.
Even without performance enhancing substances, tremendous strides have been made in both sports nutrition and fitness that allow players longer, better careers than ever before. Shall we throw those people out on the street for having a decided advantage over players in the 20s? What about the players of the 60s and 70s who have freely admitted to using uppers to get up for a day game following a night game?
It's an ever evolving world, a demanding fanbase who always wants more, more more. Baseball was saved by the home run chase of Sosa and McGwire...likely entirely fueled by steroids and/or HGH.
The average fan doesn't care. They want the best athletes in the world performing at world-class levels. They don't care how they get there.
I do not remember any calls to remove records, clean up the books etc.
If baseball had taken care of this when it first came up there would be no problem.
I know it came up in 1988 with Canseco, but it could have been earlier.
In 1998 the world loved the home run race, now many of the same people want to slam Mark and Sammy. You cannot have it both ways.
I agree with this quote completely.

Then please explain with some logic how the vast majority of fans outside of SF absolutely despise Barry Bonds? And don't bring up the fact that his a complete A-hole. Anyone who breaks the most memorable mark in all of sports who used substances to enhance his chances to get there and lied on top of it is 100% the reason.

What fan outside any star player's home team isn't hated? Tell me, does Jeter get cheered in Boston? Or is he despised? What about Schilling? How's his reception in NY?
It's not the steroids alone that drive the boos of Bonds - its the fact that he's the best home run hitter in the history of the game, and the star player ALWAYS gets booed in opposing team ballparks. This isn't new, nor is it exclusive to Bonds.

I'd say performance-enhancing substances account for no more than half of the reason he's absolutely despised. His arrogance is certainly responsible for a healthy chunk and, let's face it, there's probably a segment of the population that doesn't want another f'n n----r holding the record. If using steroids and dodging the question of their use were solely responsible for all the hatred toward Bonds, I think one would see a similar universal scorn for McGwire and Sosa. Yet those two seem to elicit more of a "Say it ain't so" lament.
<< <i>I hope, nay I'm pretty sure that A-Rod is not only a juicer but a poosticker as well.

Quoted for posterity's sake.
Damn, a homophobe too?

I haven't heard any hatred toward Jeter or Schilling in Detroit Tiger country. Bonds on the other hand is another story. Your argument is very weak.
Virtually all of his arguments are very weak, that's nothing new! LOL!

How about the guy who plays the game the right way but loses his roster spot to another player who beat him thanks to the boost these dangerous drugs gave him? I bet if you lost your job to someone who cheated to get the position over you, you'd all be singing a different tune. I don't think doing steroids should be a prerequisite to playing professional sports.
