1886 Morgan Die Breaks Through Date

1886 P Morgan

Searched all descriptions for the varities of this coin and do not see one listing a die break running from stars to bottom of neck back down through first two digits of date. I've looked at many and seen two. Is this too common for a VAM designation? I've heard the phrase before "a die crack doesnt always make a vam". Guessing this is true in this instance.

I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.

You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.

  • very true on the break saying.

    However,
can you get a closeup of the "6", neck clash and hair vee? Almost looks like a 1A1 but need better pics...
This is a very dumb ass thread. - Laura Sperber - Tuesday January 09, 2007 11:16 AM image

The TPG's find that die to very attractive, you'll find it in many MS66 and MS67 PCGS and NGC holders. The
real die break here appears in the cap, running south from the rim, and not the date. However, I've
never found one that's large enough for Leroy to list.

Yeah, see these all the time. When perusing an auction quickly, that is a date crack that is a quick skip to the next lot.
