hey all
this is my first attemp at a poll so bare with me,
i'd like to hear what everyone thinks about the 1914 matte proof lincoln cent?
what type of toning usually encountered?
what kind of grades encountered?
and any useful information in general?
this is open to all intrested people and in the spirit of all our hobby stands for...

i woke up this morning to a rep. from ngc calling my house today, apperently they wanted to straighten this out. They said it has not been cleaned, and that they wouldnt have given it the star if they had believed it had been doctored... what does this mean? who knows but i know this is very intresting...

Cohodk,
Thanks for posting the 1914. Going along with what I have been discussing this morning. This coin currently rests in a Physician's collection of toned MPL cent in Southern California. He has a near complete set of toned MPL's that I have been helping him build for almost a year now. He still needs the 1909 VDB and the 1916. He might purchase his 1916 from me at the upcoming Long Beach show and then will most likely put his 88.89% complete set on the PCGS registry. There will be another 8 images of nicely toned MPL cents presented to the collecting public. Some will be familiar and some not.
just by the way it says that you're a "yn"...that brings a lil envy upon me my friend as what a start you are making by starting a registry set of matty's as a yn.
just curious as to how old you are here...i'm 45 myself
sincerely ted
i am 25 and have been colleting well researching coins for 4 years now. I started my collection with a old blue pcgs ms65 rd 1909svdb. then went right for the matte proofs.
no need to be jealous. prices still get to me and i bet you have a few coins id like to own.
the registry is new to me. brian wagner mentioned it, and i was intrested.
my first matte happened to be in a pcgs holder so i said heck with it and put it on the registrys.
always gald to talk coins with a fellow coin nut.
well see what i add next week...

very nice coin there. very pretty colors, and seems very original lol.
all seriousness, thats a keeper for sure...
Doug, by the looks of the coins I have seen you post here, I think you have some very nice coins!
Tom, your 1914 looks kind of similiar to the 1914 I posted on the top of this thread, especially the obverse. Why were they so tough on the grade of that coin? I was expecting 1 to 2 grades points higher when I checked the cert # Very nice coin!
