That Vick will play in the NFL again now? I remember someone awhile back arguing that he would... I dont know 23 months in prison, still needs to answer prolly another charge as well. Thats quite awhile to be away from NFL training camps ect.. ect...

Thoughts?

Honestly, was he that great to begin with? He had the one good game against the packers and that big run against Mini sota, but other
than that he hasn't done anything. Any defense that put a spy on him shut him down. He could not burn anyone with his arm. He
never looked good against the bucs and the panthers would always have a little something for him.

I don't know what all the talk about is. He can join the Ricky Williams overhyped will never play again group. I wouldn't be surprised to
see McFadden in the same boat in a few years!

I don't think he will play. There is likely a good chance that the Commissioner will suspend him (or whatever the term is) for some period of time once he is out of prison.

He has zero chance if he doesnt learn to throw it better. No team will sign him and create a special offense for him again.

  • Hard to say, two years or more (depending on any extra suspension the NFL wants to do) is probably going to erode his skills to
a certain degree. Any team that signs him would have to deal with a certain amount of stigma in having him on the roster (expect
    perhaps the Raiders) image
  • With the complete lack of quarterbacking talent in the NFL, he will find a job.
Like joestalin said, he's overhyped. But he was still better than most QBs in
the league. Some team will need to do a great PR job though.

Will Vick go down as the most overrated, overhyped player in NFL history who basically didn't do much? Probably. Vick is done in the NFL - stick a fork in him.

Well I think both Ryan Leaf and Brian Bosworth come before Vick in that category. But Vick could be up there.
  • Good Day,
Having been a Raider Fan for 45 years+ I would put money on Vick being a Raider for a year or two before the Fork is inserted. Look at Bosworth, Napoleon McCullem, Jackson, and the list could go on and on...................

Vick will get an opportunity for sure. The team that picks him up might even sell a few more season tickets since there will be some hype involved. I don't think that he'll make an impact once he returns due to the time off and also depending on which team is willing to take him and in what capacity. If he is signed and simply a sideshow deal with a team who already had a decent starting QB option, then Vick could maybe "hide" out as a backup QB for quite a few years. I mean, if teams are signing Chris Weinke and Chris Redman and Vinny Testaverde, Vick would have some definite value as a backup.

23 months in prison- prolly serve 18 of it, then I believe he might end up answering another charge? which may or may not meen more time.
In jail the food is not the most healthy stuff around- sure its edible and you wont starve or puke but we are talking about JAIL food! it is not the type of diet that will keep you in shape, canteen is available but the healthiest items available are packets of sardines and tuna, there is NO protein powder ect.. ect.. There is weights but zero trainers and other things available for an athlete to stay in top notch shape let alone NFL type conditioning! When he gets out he will be maybe 6-8 months away MAYBE of being in football shape, we are talking of 2 years plus away from NFL action. That is a very long time IMO, I dont see him playing again.

Those who think Vick will be back are forgetting one important thing...to us the NFL is entertainment, but to the NFL owners it's a business, and bringing Michael Vick back to the NFL would be bad for business. Owners wink at each other when doing things to compete against each other because overall it helps the league such as what Al Davis sometimes does, but even Al Davis won't sign him.

Remember also that the NFL is about sponsors and advertising, and no advertiser is going to want to be associated with Michael Vick in any way, shape or form. Al Davis wouldn't sign him for the very least reason of possibly and probably losing advertising revenue.

And there is also the gambling aspect of what Michael Vick did, and that is especially bad with NFL owners to have players involved with illegal gambling.

Michael Vick's NFL career is over.

We will be starting Russell soon and i assume we will give him at least 3 years to figure it out. That puts the Raiders out of contention for Vick with that time frame. (I hope)
