You have to be desperate to sell these at melt. Unless you submit and get a lot of 70's to make up your loss but even that is quite a chunk of change to lose. That rationale may work for ASE's but not these. What is the rationale behind selling these at melt. Why would dealers or any seller take an immediate or even a long term loss of $500. My guess is you won't get the reverse proof in the aftermarket for less than what the entire set costs at the mint.

I started a poll so that when/if PCGS looks on thier forum, they will be able to see what us paying "collector's club fees" to be a collector can recieve what is released by the US Mint as "official 10th anniversary set" and recieve the label. Thank you for making the right decision based upon us " the people paying the fees to be members suggest.
Is it normal to say back ordered? Just want to make sure my order went through. I have some order #'s. 27472*** is the earliest. It was very slow on my end at least trying to get the order through. Was I too late? I doubt they will sell out that quickly right?

No, but you can't help making a negitive comment on the thread where people who are excited about it are discussing it. Why don't you take your crusty peices of yester year over to another thread. No one cares what your comments about these brilliant and beautiful coins are.
<< <i>Check the PCGS price guide they just lowered a lot of the platinum eagles to just a little above Melt!! I guess they don't like them either??? >>
Great time to fill in the gaps in my collection--oh yeah, except for that whopping $2K charge on my next credit card!

Wow, the early $10 proofs in MS69 dropped 33%. Is this a misprint?

Some went up and some went down, none are near spot. I think many will miss the bus but that's okay, I'll sell you a set for 10K when you finally realize what opportunity you missed.
They dropped $100 each! Early year $10 MS69 that is, but why??? This is the only pcgs set I have. WOW. Now how am I going to finance my $2000 purchase?
Who really cares what any price guide says? The fact is you can see what these go for in real dollars on Ebay everyday. I really don't care if the guide says they're worth $10 or 1 million it's what you can get on the open market that count.

Absolutely. The price guide is sometimes high, sometimes low and sometimes dead-on but it is very difficult to update these as a lot of the moderns change so rapidly. eBay sells a lot of PCGS slabbed coins and if there are enough sellers then you can see what the market is paying. I recommend you do searches and then watch the auctions of coins that you wish to evaluate to get a more accurate value. When it comes to coins or any collectable, its value depends market demand but does not rule out someone who wants the item more than market and there are always those that want to pa less.
