100 YEAR ANNIVERSARY of SAINT-GAUDENS COINS WHY NO COMMEMORATIVES ?

High relief 20 and 10 dollar gold Saint-Gaudens commemoratives, would have made perfect sense this year and a sure sell-out. Disappointed they chose not to recognize these designs in a commemorative offering. Maybe they can find a way in 08 to honor these works of art?

I am hearing of a commemorative for the 1909 Lincoln design in 2009, why not others?
  • I agree, a high relief saint would fly off the shelves.

Such as coin would simply have honored one of the most enduring of American artists. Members of Congress, including the New Hampshire delegation, were contacted several years ago. There was little interest – possibly because there was no special interest group or lobbyist connected with it.
  • You guys gotta get to know one or two lobbyists. Get 'em tipsy and bet 'em they can't do it, and they'll take you up on it just to prove you wrong. That's how we ended up preserving a miserable "National Aquarium" in the Commerce Dept. back in the 1980s...
