1921-P Morgan VAM 3G Pitted Reverse - Arrived today - PICS and Questions
The coin was mentioned in this thread.
I'm still going with MS63, but I'm not the best grader. I took a couple of scans and some close-up photos.
#1 - There are raised vertical lines on the obverse. They run from 'P' to the 2nd & 3rd left stars. Doesn't look like die polishing lines. Please check the photo. Wasn't sure if it was common on 21-P 3G's or if it's on the planchet.
#2 - The coin is clashed twice. Is this common on 3G's?
#3 - One image shows the hairvee. Does that look like the remains of clashed letters?

2. I only see evidence (by the vee and by the rt wreath) that it is only clashed once
3. yes, those are letter transfers
Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
Great pickup Norm, the hairvee is certainly clashed letters.

Here are some images of "ust" and the cracks near AMER. It looks pre-break... before 3C2.
Also added some close-ups of the two clashes. I was trying to place this in the die stage. Didn't know if all 3C's showed two clashes.
Close-ups can really emphasize every little flaw. Check out this scratch on the eagle's lower breast.
