Bush out for season

Such a shame but as I've been saying since day one, he's not built to be an every down back.

Never has been, never will be.

It is a shame, Norleans is looking good as of late too. Like Stown said and I agree, he is not built for a "feature back" role. His frame cannot take the pounding that a starting back does in the NFL. I certainly wish Bush a healthy career but I dont think it will be in the role that the Saints want him to be ( or drafted him to be )

He's one of the most overrated players in the NFL right now...
  • What makes Reggie Bush overrated in your opinion?

I should have explained more. For the spot where he was taken in the draft, I would expect A LOT more than what he is giving. He's a gifted receiver out of the backfield, but so was Larry Centers. He's an awful inside the tackles runner and he's not much better on the outside. Look at some of the backs that are having big years and where they were taken in the draft. Westbrook, Chester Taylor, any Denver RB from the last 10 years, Willie Parker (undrafted), Earnest Graham, etc.

I think he's a lot more concerned about making commercials right now than playing football. Plus, you just can't excuse him for making one of the biggest boneheaded plays of the year when he tossed that end around right up in the air against the Bucs.
  • Granted he was taken high in the draft, and big things are expected out of him, but how often are skill position guys fantastic right out of the gate (adrian peterson of the vikes is the exception not the rule).

RBs should be good right out of the gate. They only have 5-7 year careers anymore and he's already done with year two. Here are some that have great out of the gate just in the last year or two:

    Marshawn Lynch
    Joseph Addai
Ryan Grant (where the heck did he come from)
    Earnest Graham
    Frank Gore
    Maurice Jones-Drew
    Selvin Young
    Marion Barber

You have guys like Justin Fargas that are putting up better numbers than Bush. That's not worthy of the #2 pick in the draft.

Of course...and so what? Half the guys on here who "argue" with him where goading him to come back and reply to some posts about the Bucs so what should we expect? I'll say this about Axtell...at least he's not a welcher.

The Texans were ragged on for a year and a half for not drafting Bush. The media portrayed it as taking Bowie over Jordan (yet neglecting to mention Olajuwon was taken 1st).

And least we forget that Bush was called a "one in a generation player" and compared to the next Gayle Sayers. Some even guaranteed he would be better than LT, LJ, Edge, Emmitt, Sanders, Faulk, and Alexander.

Now the media is quickly changing their tune because they now see what I've seen since day 1; Mario was the correct pick.

  • Reggie Bush was being lauded as a "can't miss" prospect with tons of PR hype. He has been a disappoinment up to now that is for sure.
Running Backs should have one of the shortest learning curves to adopt to the pro game (unlike a QB) but things have just not gelled
    with him.

I was hoping it was George.

Of the regular 22 players on the field...that is correct.

In the games I've watched Bush, I've seen plays where Bush clearly doesn't stick his head down and finish a play, and I've seen him short-arm passes and not catching a pass for fear of getting a tough hit. A lesser talented NFL football player would have gotten cut for things such as this.
