1795 Half O-127a R.6 sold on Ebay for $4550.00 What do you think it would grade?

I thought it would grade G6 if submitted to PCGS.

I could only sit and watch it go to someone else...would have been a nice variety to own. I love cracked Busties. Is it really a R.6 or is it higher?

Looks VG to me. Not a bad value compared to the Reiver coin, which was called High R6.

I love seeing coins I can't afford even in the grades where you can't see half of the coin due to wear.

That said, it seems there is always a variety in each series that is a show stopper to completing it and this seems like one of them.

Wow! I have not been watching the 1795's, what a surprise. During the last rarity ratings update a few years ago, there were 13-15 known, I found a holed example recently with about the same wear as this coin. Board member Preturb tracks individual coins of this variety, he would know more than anyone the true rarity. It is one of the "small head" varieties (126, 127, 128), which are becoming more sought-after and expensive. They are thought to have been engraved by John Gardiner, as Robert Scot engraved the other FH's. After the 1795/1795 three leaves, the 127 in this die state is the most desirable of the 1795 FH halves IMO, a really cool coin. I would grade G6.

IMO, that's a fairly ugly coin, but it should grade G-6. Nice Tri-die crack!!!
