On the topic of ol' "Longshanks", though, and all Hollywood historical inaccuracies aside, I loved Patrick McGoohan's performance as Edward I in "Braveheart". I guess I've always enjoyed a suave and intelligent movie villain. McGoohan's Longshanks ranks up there with James Earl Jones' Darth Vader. Sometimes the bad guy is a cool baddie.

Och, Longshanks be damned!!
"for, as long as but a hundred of us remain alive, never will we on any conditions be brought under English rule. It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself." -Declaration of Arbroath, April 6th, 1320

Hey, I'm Clan Robertson. We get our name from Robert the Bruce. So Longshanks was definitely my ancestors' foe.
But I still like him as a movie villain.
