Anyone know what this medal (?) is...?

This girl at work comes up to me with this thing hanging around her neck, and she wants to know what it is and what it's worth (I have no clue). So she took it off and made a copy of it on a color copier, and then I scanned the copies into the sub-standard crappy images you see here. The obverse (she cut off the top) says "Youth for Peace" and "1970." The reverse has the United Nations logo in the middle and around the edge it says "United Nations" in several different languages. Anyone have a clue?

Good find. Figured I'd post some of the facts here for when the auction is no longer available:
- Official UN commemorative medal
- came in an original box
- designed by Luman Martin Winter, sculptor, painter and muralist, especially noted for murals and mosaics on walls of churches, universities and other prominent buildings in the US.
- produced by The Franklin Mint
