What coin series do we rarely ever discuss?

ShamikaShamika Posts: 18,785 ✭✭✭✭
It just occurred to me that we rarely see any threads regarding Liberty Nickels. In fact, I just did a search and found only about a dozen threads on Liberty nickels for all of 2007 (not including the 1913 coin).

    Most colonial types...and I think that's unfortunate.
  • 2c, 3c, 20c, and $2 1/2. Basically, the odd denominations.

Actually, it seems to me we do discuss 2c and 3c coins faily often. But I can't argue against 20c and $2.5.

With regards to Colonials, I can't get enough of these.

We have discussed $3's far more than we have discussed $10 Libs. We almost never discuss gold classic commems or Type II and Type III gold dollars.

There are very few threads about Bechtler and Templeton Reid gold, as well as most western territorials.

Come to think of it, unless someone adds one to his/her typeset, we almost never discuss half cents.

Of the capped bust coins, dimes seem to get the least attention.

Of the seated series, half dimes and quarters probably share the least attention.

V nickels, SBA dollars, anything clad and surprisingly Standing Liberty quarters aren't discussed much. As a matter of fast I don't think I've ever seen a SLQ pic thread in my 4+ years here........hint!

Funny, but I never noticed that. Sure, clad and V nickel threads I noticed were
few and far between but so are standing libs and these are one of my favorites.

I suppose collections don't come cheap since the dates are worn off most of the
    early dates.

I don't see much about Flowing Hair or early Large Cents. I think it's due to the high cost of these pieces that most of us have none to share so we can discuss them.

Not much talk about Large Cents. Does anyone else here collect them?

Agree - need more discussion about territorials. image

  • I don't think i've ever seen a thread on stellas. Come to think about it, i've seen more threads on the $5 pattern coin that Barber's father (I think this is right) engraved.

I started a photo thread on the V nickels but couldn't even get through my own set before it died... image

I don't see as much early copper as I'd like, either. I wish some of the EAC folk would post some educational stuff for us mere mortals (properly dumbed-down for the likes o' folks like me, though).

3cN don't get discussed much, and Shield nickels less so, I would imagine.
