1895-O Morgan VAM Help

Looking for opinions...is this a VAM-3? The book says the date should be further right than normal, but I don't know what normal is for this date...If so, is it worth the postage and fees to get it designated on the holder? It's in PCGS F-12 plastic right now...

I agree that it looks like a VAM 3. However, 1895-O is one of the few dates that not even us VAM geeks bother with, because:

    a. The coin is expensive in all grades
    b. There are no VAMs of any consequence for this date
    c. No one collects this date by VAM number

By the way, PCGS does not designate any of the 1895-O VAMs.
    When in doubt, don't.

That is a nice looking coin, though.

Thanks! I thought that might be the case...you should've seen this coin before- I returned it to PCGS because, although it was in their plastic, it was covered with PVC...the whole coin on both sides was green! They did an excellent job of removing it under their guarantee, and it didn't cost anything but return postage...here's what it looked like before (although the photos aren't as good):

    Wow!

    What an improvement!
    When in doubt, don't.
