Radio Shack CueCat To Scan Slab Bar Codes?

Don't know if anyone remembers the cuecat put out by radio shack in the late 1990's as the next big thing. It was a hand-held barcode scanner wand with software to catalog barcodes and give you product info on supermarket barcodes. I remember a bunch of people dismantling/hacking them to make them do other uses back when they were new. I havent seen one in several years. I did pick up three or four back then and just put them in my computer oddities drawer. Only opened one. I looked this morning and they must have been packed into long term storage at the local shelf storage building. I am wondering if anyone has ever tried one of these on a PCGS or NGC barcode. Or does it need modified to work with slabs. I wouldnt mind playing with the soldering iron and one or two of my extras when their found if theres a chance it would work.
I'll see your bunny with a pancake on his head and raise you a Siamese cat with a miniature pumpkin on his head.
You wouldn't believe how long it took to get him to sit still for this.
