Do you think die polish areas are distracting on Silver coins?

Especially if in the prime focal areas? Even coins graded in high MS have areas that are visible.

I think die polish lines detract somewhat, but for some varieties, that is the only way they come. There are also many prooflike coins that show die polish lines.
I collect Capped Bust series by variety in PCGS AU/MS grades.

    Yes I do.
I also wonder (haven't tried yet) how they photograph and if it takes some skill to obscure or not empathize considerably sized die polish or if they don't photo well to start with....

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

I really like this coin. It has heavy die polish lines to try and remove the die gouge. It's the latest die stage i've seen of the vam 1f chin bar.

Yes, I think in general they detract. I also think they can be readily confused with hairlines, especially when all you have is a photo to go by. I have also seen some walkers that I think would have graded higher without them. Either the grader downgraded them for the polish lines, or if was 'newbie's' day at the table, he/she just assumed hairlines and graded it accordingly.

Die polishing is a negative and should affect the grade.
