Searching NY Times articles back to 1851

Did you guys know you can search the NY times back to 1851? There's a lot of neat articles to be found. Some cost money, but most a free. A few headlines:

    Very interesting article! I'm wondering why they didn't mention they also resumed striking Morgan dollars in 1921, also.


    Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.

    Yes, I discovered this accidentally, while researching a bit on the story about a steamboat that suffered a boiler explosion and blew up and sank here in the 1850s with much loss of life, right alongside the riverbank at a particular bluff where I do a lot of metal detecting. Trying in vain to sketch out some of the details of the story of this tragedy, I searched far and wide, and finally found the details in an old article in the NYT, though this particular story happened here in Glynn County, Georgia.

    There is a lot of good historical stuff here.

    However, understand that 99.99% of it was written by folks who hadn't the first clue about numismatics. So when it comes to matters of the mint be careful about making conclusions based only on contemporary news sources.
