Question: what happens when you spend your life in a coin cabinet?

Answer: you stay in an amazing state of preservation for your age. I'd have to say that this particular shilling never spent much time outside of it's fancy English coin cabinet.
This shilling is coming from England to join me and it's brother Shillings and i'm thrilled to have one that looks this nice!

    To your initial question: if it's red copper, the side that sits on the velvet becomes brownish, so a full red coin becomes RB in no time, wether your cabinet is made of the right wood or not and wether the drawers have holes for ventilation or not.

    Silver on the other hand, tends to tone very nicely in these coin cabinets. Nice shilling. image
