Imperial Russia 10 Ruble
I have gotten an 1899 10 ruble and especially like that it has an edge inscription. After spending probably three fruitless hours on the net, I'm asking for help. Can you tell me where to find a (Cyrillic) text of the edge and/or a translation? The inscription is legible, but I'm asking for a text because a few letters don't seem to match up with the alphabets on Wiki and a couple of other sources I've looked at. (That's why I'm not including a text.) Maybe a bad strike, or another of the endless variants of the Cyrillic alphabet. In any case, Ive found the answer to a question I posed a while back about non-Latin-alphabet edge inscriptions.

I received your e-mail. The inscription identifies the purity of the coin - "Of pure gold 1 Zolotnik and 78,24 Doli", which is 7.74234 grams of pure gold.
Cheers.

Here are some older Cyrillic alphabets with a handy explanation of which ones fell out of use or were eliminated in the 1918 reform.

What's that in the parentheses? I swear it's Cyrillic letters ef - ze, as opposed to what you gave. Is it a mintmark? That's not a Russian mintmark in the book I've looked at.
Maybe, just maybe . . . Did it!
