Sort of OT - Sports rings

Does anyone here collect sports ring? I've been looking at an NCAA Football National Championship ring from when my alma mater won it. I'm trying to figure out a good price. I'm assuming everyone on the roster gets a ring, and they're all the same quality (e.g. the 3rd string guy who never plays has as many diamonds, etc. on his ring as the star QB). Does anyone know if this is correct? Also are there any other factors that drive up price other than the popularity of the school and the intrinsic value of the ring - gold, diamonds, etc? Lastly are fakes common and how can one spot them?

Thanks

All rings are created equal but there will be a premium on who's ring it is. Would think the more popular the school, a higher premium as well..

I know for professional leagues, most (if not all) employees get a ring too.

    Good luck.
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts
