After the Pennsylvania Supreme court said it should be a matter of public record. He will earn more than $500,000 this year.
Joe was paid $427,220 in the first 10 months of 2007 and is on track to make $512,664.
He says "I'm paid well, I'm not overpaid" and "I got all the money I need."
His salary is not even close to Nick Saban who is making $4 million a year at Alabama.

<< <i>why was this a big deal? somebody went to court to get his salary revealed? >>
pretty much. As a state school, records of salary paid to employees were supposed to be public, at least in Pennsylvania.

It's been well documented that Joe has turned down lucrative offers to coach pro football for a lot more money than he was earning at Penn State. Is all this at Penn State an "ego trip" for Joe?...well of course it is...but done in the right way as Joe has done, there's nothing wrong with that.

He donated several million dollars to the Penn State Library, very nice, he is not just all about sports.
